FOOTBALLER IN TROUBLE.
DODGES DRILL,
A HEAVY PENALTY.
Wallace Robinson, who last court day was fined £1 for failing to notify his change of address from Waitara to Hawera was proceeded against in the Hawera' Magistrate’s Court to-day on a charge of failing to attend drill at WaitaTa on July IT. . ~ Sergeant-Major Bell, in evidence, said that when he spoke to defendant on one occasion defendant said: “You won’t get me.” On another occasion Robinson promised to attend a parade that was being held about 10 days later, but he never put in an appearance. Letters to Robinson had never been answered, and the records showed that defendant had never once attended drill. In August, 1024, Robinson had been fined £5 for failing to register under the Defence Act. The Magistrate (Mr. J. S. Barton, g.M.) imposed a fine of £5 and made an order depriving Robinson of his civil rights for three years.* Ser^t. -Major Bell mentioned the fact that defendant was at present * tour with the Taranaki represent ' football team.
