SOCIETY CASE
LETTERS PRODUCED. A BIG CLAIM ALLEGED BREACH OF PROMISE. BY CABLE—PEEaS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT (Received Sep. 30, 11.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sep. 30. At the Resell breach of promise case a large number of letters which had passed between Resell and the plaintiff during the latter’s absence on a trip to America, where she secured employment at 100 dollars a week, and in France, were produced and read. These letters resulted in her returning to Australia and resuming her companionship with Resch, who then proposed marriage and pressed her to marry him. Later she became ill and underwent an operation, after which she told him she was not going to marry him because he made her too miserable and that he was too jealous. He told her to please herself, and that he would pay her fare hack to America, adding that lie was sick of sick females.
On September 25 a society breach of promise case, in which a prominent city man is defendant, was commenced, Audree Vasser Lauzanne claiming £25,000 from Arnold G. Resch, merchant and brewer, for alleged breach of promise of marriage.
