MOTORING INTERESTS.
SOUTH TARANAKI ASSOCIATION
At a special 'meeting of the executive of the South Taranaki Automobile Association 'held last night in Stratford, the principal 'business was consideration of the proposed amendments to the motor regulations 'and the recommendations of the North Island Union. With, the exception of a suggestion that a sign indicating that a turn to the left was noo necessary, the meeting adopted the recommendations. There were present at the meeting, Messrs. -S. C. Tonics (acting chairman), W- O’Callaghan, E. P. Cox, J. A. Duifill, Li. O'. Hooker (Hawera), T. B. Crump, M. McGarry (Elitham), A. J. Ba.fr, Rev. J. L., A. Kay 11 (Stratford) and Air. E. K. Cameron (acting-secretary). In regard to proposed amendments, the meeting resolved that the proposal to make windscreen wipers compulsory be not endorsed and that, .regarding the erection, of dimotion and caution signs, all branches 'bo asked to forward to the executive a list of .signs required, so that the work of making ami painting may be done at onc-e'. iThe subject of securing new members was considered, and it was decided to recommend the appointment of ail official oanvasiaei'.
• North Taranaki is' to be asked to co-operate -in a request to the Railway Department to erect warning -signs at Wiaipulcu. The publication of a road guide was mentioned -and the meeting resolved to help the publishers in the compilation of such a useful publication. A concise road map is to be prepared by the executive. • A iprotesifc iis to be xniade to the istrar against the registration or the North Association as the Taranaki Aasociaion. The opinion of the meeting was that the provincial name should not he used, especially alsi the nonth was the weak end, -so far as Association matters were concerned. A motor run will, be arranged at an early date. Vote.s of thanks were passed to Messrs O’dallaghan and Cox, who were delegates to the North Island annual meeting, and to the former for attending the conference in Wellington. Both of them submitted useful reports. A vote of thanks to the chairman and to the Stratford A. and P. A.ssoconeluded a, useful meeting.
