THE FISHING SEASON.
PROSPECTS GOOD. To-morrow ‘ the disciples of Izaak Walton, with rod; in hand, will set out to secure the wily trout from the streams, of the district. It is the opening day of the season, and anglers have no doubt been furbishing up their gear. Already a large number have secured licenses, and l the agents of . the Acclimatisation Society in various parts report a good demand. The president of the society reports that, in his opinion, the fishing should be good. There have been more liberations dhring the last year or two than ever before, and those from the local, hatcheries have worked in well with .and been supplemented by supplies from other districts.
The rivers have been high and are still above normal, and this means plenty of feed. . In addition, the whitebait have been numerous, and it is certain the fish, go down eyery year to do some catching for themselves, for they' are very fond of the small fish. Anglers should have a good time tomorrow and a plentiful season.
