Sir Truby King has arrived at Sydney by the Ulimaroa. He Avill be accorded a civic reception on Wednesday, and Avill then lea\ 7 e for Melbourne, Avhere lie Avill attend the conference of. the Public Health Association of Australia.
Mr S. Marshall, one of those injured in the recent railway accident, has taken a critical turn in the Napier hospital. He is an engine driver, Avho AA-as on holiday, and had intended getting off at Dannevirke, but Avent on to see, a brother Avho he thought Avas at Napier, but who, had Teally left there. He was pinned in the wreckage and badly burned about the arms, face "and side before the rescuers could drag him-out (says a Press Association message from Napier). Messrs L. Cohen, G. Mcßeth and R. Ste\-enson, Avho are prominent members of the Wanganui Operatic Society, came to Harvera yesterday to see the performance of “The Toreador” by the Hawera Society; They Avere all most decided in their approval of the high standard shown by the local amateurs. Mr Cohen, Avho has had a long experience of operatic Avork, specially congratulated; the executive and the members and said it Avas a production of Avliich any society might justly be proud.
