ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. FURTHER ENTRIES. Since the list was published of the entries received for the various competitions of the Boys’ and Girls Ciu & a large number of additional entries have been received' in all sections. There has been a keenness which has eclipsed anything previously recorded in connection with the competitions. Teac'hers, parents and pupils are all evincing an enthusiasm which is most to the Farmers Union executive and to the members of branches all over the district of .South Taranaki. It is interesting to note that practically every place where some function was held in, connection with the presenting of the prizes and: the gathering addressed by members there lias boon shown n vory oonfadorablo increase. . . . Several schools which were not m last year or which had no entries for some competitions have good totals for all this year. With the exception of ami Kaknramea, which are in the \\ anganui district, none of last year’s entrants have failed to come in this year except Riverlea. The detailed list is as follows, together with last year’s figures: School. rots, golds, rear’g. ’24. ’25.

. In connection with the prizes for the competitions, the custom has always been to ■ give cash prizes . This year, however, the children were given the option of trophies, and in a large 1 number of cases they took the option of changing. Rose bowls mainly were secured! for the girls and cups for the boys, and th£ quality is excellent.
