GENERAL OOAIAIITTEE AIEETS. SHOW STEWARDS APPOINTED. A meeting of tho General Committee of the Egmont A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon, when there were present: Alessrs S. C. Tonks (chair), F. \V. Gillanders, J. D. Scott, AV. McL’Dowie, H. E. Johnson, H. Finlay, H. Wren, C. H. AVasher, D. Crocker, N. Wren, G. W. Stubbs, B. C. Gibson, J. Forbes, B. C. Lysaght, E. A. AA’asher, J. S. T. Short, A. Lankow, D. S. Richardson, N. Crocker, and F. Mills, junr, . Apologies for absence were received from Alessrs A. Hunter, R. AlcCay, and A. J. Haseltine.

Before the business ‘of the meeting was commenced votes of sympathy with the relatives of the late Alessrs W. Slattery and T. AV. Armitage were carried in silence. The New Zealand Friesian Association wrote stating that at a meeting of the council it had been resolved to recommend A. and P. associations to have the judging of dairy stock of pedigree groups carried out previous tp the judging of the individual classes. Alenibers had expressed the belief that if the pedigree groups were _ judged first the judges would he more inclined to note the average merit of the animals comprising th© group, and greater satisfaction would result in the awards. Messrs H. E. Johnson and E. A. AVasher spoke supporting the recommendation. the latter moving that it he adopted by th© Egmont Association in respect to all breeds of cattle.—The motion was seconded and carried.

In reply to th© committee’s invitation permission was granted the Fanners’ Co-op. and the Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. to conduct an auction on the show grounds on th© second day of th© show. Entry fees were fixed at 2s 6d per head, the sale to he open only to cattle exhibited' at the show. The chairman drew th© attention: of the committee to the fact that at the Hawera Technical High_ School there was a. very strong agricultural class. Th© hoys were very keen, and he would like to see two hoys appointed as junior stewards in each section. They would be of great assistance to the stewards, and the work would be educative.

Air H. Finlay said that the boy he had helping him at the show last year had been of great assistance. On the motion of Alessrs B. C. Lysaght and H. Finlay it was decided to ask Air Gray (principal of 'the school) if he would facilitat© the carrying out of the scheme at the next eliow.

New members were elected as follow: Alessrs A. R. Dunn (Auroa), J. Houston (Hawera), A. G. Stead (Hawera), and D. Strachan (Hawera).

The resignation of Mr F. AV. Oliver, late of Hawera, was accepted. Show stewards for the forthcoming show were appointed as follow: Gatekeepers and ticket stands, Air R.
