The Daily Express’ Bucharest corresoondent states that experts extinguished the Moreni oil well fire after it had burned for fifty days and done damage estimated at a quarter of a mil\ion. Many unsuccesful attempts were made, including the drawing of a huge bell over the well mouth by chains, which the heat melted. Finally a tunnel 100 feet long was excavated to a perforated bore, causing the extinction of the fire.
