FIFTY DAYS’ FIGHT.
BURNING OIL WELL VANQUISHED A COSTLY OUTBREAK. SY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCI ACTON—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Sept. 23. The Daily Express’ Bucharest corresoondent states that experts extinguished the Moreni oil well fire after it had burned for fifty days and done damage estimated at a quarter of a mil\ion. Many unsuccesful attempts were made, including the drawing of a huge bell over the well mouth by chains, which the heat melted. Finally a tunnel 100 feet long was excavated to a perforated bore, causing the extinction of the fire.
