POLICE AND RACE GANGS. LONDON, Sept. S. A force of 1000 police, including a si rung mounted detachment, has been assembled at Doncaster to deal with race gangs during the St. Leger meeting. Police will ride on all tram cars and trains. The chief constable of Doncaster, replying to the magistrate at the swear-ing-in of 50 detectives who have been assembled for special duty, said: “We will deal with offenders in Yorkshire fashion, and we won't use kid gloves.’’
