N.S.W. RUGBY 'BEAM’S TOUR. FINAL MATCH. YESTERDAY. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WHANIGAREI, Sep. 23. Flaying the final 'match ol : their New Zealand tour thus laiiiternoon at Kensington Parle, Whangarei, against she North Auckland fifteen, the New South Wales Rugby Union representatives demonstrated the superiority of their prowess to the extent of thirty-two plaints to six. VTained combination and physical fitness . told ids tale against haphazard individual calibre, lacking combination. Meeting opponents much, weightier, the visitors not, only held their own in the scrum work, but were infinitely better in back play, in which the northeners were jagged and ineffectual.
The attendance was approximately 3000. Brilliant sunshine pievailed throughout, .and the turf was in excellent condition, but a high northerly wind and the sun at their backs were factors enabling the northeners to make a good showing in the first half. They were the first to score (an unconverted try) after seventeen minutes. Then the visitors obtained an equalising try, which was unconverted, and crossed again just before the interval, the m'ajor points being added, and the spell ended 8 to 3 in the visitors’ favour.
With the change of ends New South Wales proved irresistible. Though - held for .the first ten minutes, they afterwards piled on six tries, of which throe were converted, against a solitary unconverted crossing by North Auckland. WIN FOR WANG A N Ul. TIM All .U , Sep. 23. The Wanganui ten ring Rugby team played South Canterbury here to-day in the presence of a large gathering. A fierce nor’-west wind which prevailed militated against good football, but nevertheless some bright play, especially in the latter istage/s, was seen. The final score /was Wanganui 23, South Canterbury 15. The visitors lost the toss and through out the first /spell were severely handicapped by the wind, the .spell ending South Canterbury 6, Wanganui 3. In the 'Second spell the visitors .showed to much greater advantage. The superiority of their backs was very noticeable, but the local men met the opposition well, their forwards more than holding their own.
