MURDER OF MRS MACFIE.

A man.namde Kirton, an Australian, was drrestedi at Surabaya onboard the steamer Tasman, on suspicion of having murdered Mrs. H. Campbell Mac Fie, wife of the consul for Spain in Sydney, who was found dead with her throat cut and ghastly wounds on the body in a hotel in Batavia-. Many blood-stained handkerchiefs were '■ found in Kirton’s possession. Kirton declares that he is the director of a large Australian firm, and says the blood-stains are due to nose bleeding.
