AT MT. MORGAN MINE.

CONDITIONS IMPROVE. PROGRESS OF FLOODING. * BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPY EIGHT Received Sept. 22, 10.45 a.m. BRISBANE, Sept. 22. At present two streams of water are playing on the Mount Morgan mine lire. Conditions underground have somewhat improved, and the mine manager and the inspector were enabled to go below to the 750 foot level. They were satisfied with the progress made. When the third water main is connected up it will take three weeks to flood the mine. BRISBANE, Sep. 18. The latest message from Mount Morgan states that despite the strenuous efforts of the fire-fighters to conquer the flames the fire is now completely out of control, and is burning with intense fury. The miners endeavouring to combat the flames were driven out by the intense heat. It is stated that no further efforts will be made to check the flames, and that the fire will he allowed to burn itself out. Before this happens, timber worth over £IOO,OOO will be destroyed, and t. enormous damage will be done to the workings.
