MASSEY MEMORIAL.
FUNDS INCREASING SLOWLY. The Massey Memorial Fund is still open for contributions o n the lists in the Borough and County Council offices, Mr R. McCay’s office, and the Star office. Since the publication of the subscriptions on August 12 only £2 10s has been received, which brings the liawera total up to £34 9s. The further subscriptions are as follow: List in Borough Council office. — Mr. F. C. Foden os, making the total now £2 2s 6d. List in County Council office ; —Mrs. C. Buckrell 10s, J. C. 10s, Mr. W. A. Duckworth £1 Is; total now £6 9s. County list at Star office. —R. H. C. 4s; total now £2O 15s. The Borough .Ist at the Star office remains at £1 2s 6d, previously acknowledged; and Mr. R. McCay’s list at £4. ' .
The appeal for funds in the Auckland provincial district for the Massey National Memorial has resulted in amounts totalling £1240 being forwarded to the treasurer. Disappointment has been expressed. About 7000 lists were distributed throughout the province, and the majority have been returned, the subscriptions totalling £672 0s 6d. The city contributions amounted to £568 15s 6d, making a total of £1240 16s. Promises of an additional £SO have been received in the city, and there are a few suburban and country lists still to be returned.
