NORMANBY.
(From Oar Own Corespondent.) HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. There was a good attendance at. the forty-second annual meeting of the Normanby Horticultural Society, which was held last night. In moving the adoption of the report and 'balance-sheet, the president (Mr R. C. Gibson; stated that, owing to/the 1925 show having to be abandoned, the society had suffered another set-back financially. The guarantors, on being approached, willingly assented to. the. proposal, and several other gentlemen also kindly consented to act as guarantors in conjunction with the previous, ones. Stamps and telegrams,, etc.,, £4 16s 6d, against £lO ss. Members’ subscriptions exceeded the previous year by i's 10s. A very successful concert was given by the Hawera Scottish Society, which returned the sum of £ll Bs. A dance held later realised l £1 ss, and the society was also indebted to the Young Men’s Club for a further donation of £2 2s. The society also owed a debt of gratitude to the ladies’ committee, who supplied refreshments fur the performers at the concert and also at the dances; to the Hawera Scottish Society for the, splendid concert rendered; to Mr H. A. Lennon, who audited the society’s books gratis;, to those who donated trophies and speeiai prizes, and to all those who assisted in many ways during the year.
