QUEEN CARNIVAL.

CAMPAIGN NOTES. It is said that the country candidate’s badges, are being sold in larger numbers than other badges. However, it is known that fifty dozen have been procured to meet the demand. The Scottish candidate’s street day on Saturday was marred by very bad weather, which prevented the Eltham Pipe Band from coming to Hawera. A good sum of money, however, was collected. Thanks are due to Piper Arnold, of New Plymouth, who took out the few local pipers who were available, in order to produce a band, as advertised. The Sports Committee experienced a very satisfactory day on Saturday in its shop. Mr Woollett has kindly loaned the shop free of charge, and the committee wishes to express its thanks. The assistance offered to the country candidate by the Agricultural and Pastoral Association shou’d make the position very interesting. The country stall for the bazaar is well under way. If the country people rally and support this stall strongly it wouid mean a great deal to their candidate, for there is always a big demand for country produce. A meeting of the Country candidate's

eommittee is called for Tuesday cven- * ying. AH .interested in furthering tlie Country candidate’s election are invited to attend. The place and time of meeting are advertised elsewhere.
