STRIKE DECLARED OFF.
(by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, Sept. 21.
The. owners of the Tokomaru Bay freezing works have received word officially from the Freezing Workers’ Union that the strike which occurred at the close of last season lias been declared off, so no trouble is anticipated when the new killing season opens.
KILLED BY FALLING TREE
HASTINGS, Sent. 21
William John Jones, aged 2J years, son of Albert A. Jones, was killed yesterday by a - pine tree which was blown down by the gale. The child sustained a broken arm and fractured skull.
