An electric lights sports committee account which was controlled by sub-committees from your club and the Egmont A. and P. Association has been dissolved, and your.club now administers all the accounts connected with, the electric light carnivals. The club is. to he congratulated on the success of the numerous meetings which it conducted during the season. There were four electric light carnivals held, six evening meetings, the AVest Coast Centre championships, and two cycle road races, a total of 13 meetings, which is considered a record for any club in New Zealand. The Australian athletes, Messrs AVhyte, Grelinn, Parker, Hyde, and Burness, competed at Hawera on February 25, and a team of AYellington athletes, comprising Messrs Paris, Priestly, and Guy, competed at Hawera on. These first-class athletes and strong teams which were sent representative of AA’anganui, New Plymouth, Patea, and Palmerston North Clubs, added considerable interest to the large fields which were lined up at the different meetings. Considerable thanks, is due to Mr L. T. Marter for his effii cient organising of the . cvcly road races. The West Coast Centre championships were again held at Hawera, but unfortunately adverse weather conditions mitigated against public attendance. Your club again won the Centre’s Championship Banner, the AVanganui Club being runners-up. A strong team, comprising Messrs Scott. Kyngdori, Franks* Kerr.' Lay, Hunt and Morins, of your club, represented the Centre at the’ New Zealand championships held at- AA’anganui. and their performances proved that they were all worthy of the honour of selection. As you will notice we have during the year cleared off I he liability of. £2l 10s in regard to the lighting, and have 1 a. cash balance in hand, of £24 2s 3d and trophies', to the value of £7 14s. In round figures we are about £27 better off tliaij we were last year. The bal-:inee-*beef shows gate takings as £l3B, liul this does not represent the total, as the first two electric light meetings were run under a joint account arrangement with the A. and P. Association. The total gate takings for the season were in I lie vicinity of £4OO. and T think this must constitute a record for any country club in New Zealand. T want to take this opportunity. in view of the fact that ,1 do not propose to seek re-election as president, to thank the members and offi-
cials for their loyal support during my term of office, *nd I specially want to mention the work of the secretary.
