A RECORD YEAR
Received Sept. 17, 12.15 p.m. MELBOURNE, Sept. 17. The annual report of the Victorian Cricket Association points out that «last season, from a financial stand(joint, was a record year. The gross takings from matches against the Eng_ lish team were £36,861, the largest sum ever obtained by the association from international matches. The share paid to the English eleven was £14,018. Returns from inter-State matches had been rather disappointing. The season closed with a debit balance of £13,625, hut considering the improvement effected the position was regarded as satisfactory.
