The school teacher at Mokoia wrote asking that permission he granted to change the school hours to 9 a.in. to 3 p.m. on account of the illness of her mother. The board was sympathetic and raised no objection, it being left to the committee to decide. MANUAL INSTRUCTION.

The manual instructor (Mr R. G-. It idling) reported that classes had been regulary held, and the work was quite satisfactory. After a trial of a comolcte term under new schemes and different organisation I have to report that the results already apparent are exceedingly encouraging. Instructors are working the new schemes with every effort to make it effective in so far as the actual manual work is concerned. and with the object of making 'Jic work of the greatest assistance to the primary course. The head teachers have been very helpful in this effort, and greater co-operation is apparent than previously. Some revision of the schemes will be essential as the result of this term’s work, but the system of organisation and co-operation is doing all that can be exnected of it.
