(From Our Own Correspondent.) BOROUGH COUNCI L. A special meeting of the Fa tea Borough Council was held on Monday evening for the purpose of opening and considering tenders for putting down a six inch bore at tlie pumping station. His Worship the Mayor (Mr, F. S. Finlayson) presided. Only one tender was received, and after discussion it was resolved to accept the tender of . Air. Stewart, of Dunedin, at £Bl5, the work to bo completed -within eight weeks from the date the plant is -assembled ready for boring. A report and estimate of the cost was received from t-he Building Inspector, with reference -to repairs to a house owned fby the council, and after consideration it was resolved on the motion of Or. Christensen to set up a committee to make a thorough inspection of the place and report to the next meeting of the council, the committee consisting of His Worship the Mayor and Or-s. Riamsbottom and Christensen. TENNIS CLUB. The annual meeting of the Fate a Tennis Club was held on Friday evening, there being a fair attendance of members present. The report presented dealt very fully with the year’s play and present requirements. The balancesheet showed a credit balance at the bank of £2 13s 2d, and outstanding liabilities amounting to £2B 18s. The following new. members were elected:—Mesdames - M. Lawson, P. Tinney and Masters, Misses G. and M. Hopkinson, L. Carey, B. Bremer, R, Honeyfield and Mc-iHardie. The following office-bearers. were elected:—President, W. G. Jones; vice-presidents, Airs- Whitehead, Messrs Roberts, Sheild amd Dr. Simmons; secretary and treasurer, C, B. Webster ; general committee, Messrs Gilbert, Torrens, Patterson, Glermy and Power; ladies’ committee, Mrs. Roberts, Misses Gib-son, Hamerton, Hemingway, and C. Hopkinson.

• The subscription was fixed at: Gentlemen, £2 2s; ladies. £1 Is; country members and juniors, half the above.
