TraAvlefs arid liners have been pressed into service, and trials liaA r e been made betAveen ship and shore. “The results obtained,” added Senatore Marconi, “demonstrate that there is no difficulty in accomplishing a satisfactory seiwice of duplex wireless telephony, especially between ships on the high seas, away from the areas of congested 1 iratio telegraphic traffic. “In one instance a range of nearly 409 miles A\ T as covered. “Further development,” Senatore Marconi concluded, “would depend! on tlie demand for installations from shipowners. Wireless telejihoriy, iii the directors’ opinion, would be ari adjunct to the wireless telegraph service seiwing its own particular service.’
