EXCITING EXPERIENCE.

SAILORS RESCUED. DURING FIERCE GALE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. WASHINGTON, Sent. 10. MacMillan’s ship Bowdoin has readied Gothaab, Greenland, • after weathering a strong Arctic gale and rescuing a party of Danish naval sailors, just before the latter’s boat sank. The Peary also arrived at Gothaab. Commander MacMillan reported to the National Geographic Society that a sixty miles per hour gale struck the ship, and shortly after this screams of men were heard almost alongside. An investigation showed a small power boat of the ship Island Taulk, full of Danish sailors, towing a dory loaded with another group of sailors, struggling helplessly against the sea. A line was thrown from the Bowdoin, which was taken by the sailors, whereupon both the dory and • the power boat capsized.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
