DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. (liV TKM--OHAIMT. PIITSSS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 11. 'Hie. number of entries received for die Dominion golf championships, open and amateur, which are to he held at Shirley from September 25 to October 3, will probably exceed the limit provided for (72 according to theprogramme) I n order to enable the championships to be dealt with satisfactorily it will therefore be necessary to eliminate amateur players in excess of the number mentioned, and this will accordingly be done on a national handicap basis. No reduction, however, will be placed on the number of professionals entering for the championships. The open championship will be decided on September 25 and 26. Among those who have been entered for the open and amateur championships are.L. Quin (Eltham), the present holder of the amateur championship, B. V. Wright (Timaru), present Canterbury champion, who is entering for the Dominion championship for the first time, and A. G. Sime (Westport), who. won the amateur championship on the last occasion on which it was played- for at Shirley. SOUTH AUCKLAND CJEfAM- . FiONSHIP. HAMILTON, Sent. 11. The South Auckland golf championship was won by Norrie Bell (Hamilton), who defeated W. O’Callaghan - (liawera), S up and 7 over 36 holes. HAWKE’S BAY CHAMPIONSHIP. NAPIER, Sent. 11. The final of the Hawke’s Bay golf championship was played on the Wiiiohihi links to-day between G. M. Dodgshun (Gisborne) and Kani Tareha Napier). it- was won by Dodgsliiin at the 38th hole. The game was very good, both players equalling bogey during the afternoon round.
