THE ELECTIONS.
EARLY INFORMATION PROMISED FROM OUR PARLIAMENTARY REPORTER. WELLINGTON, Sept. 9. “Has the Prime Minister seen, the statement made by the Minister of Justice in Auckland that, in his opinion, the elections will take place early in November?” asked Mr Holland, leader of the Labour Party. “Did tlie Minister for Justice have any authority to state the elections would take place early in November? Has the Prime Minister come to a decision as to the date of the elections, and,: if so, will he take the House into his confidence? Will he adhere to the promise given that there will be ample time for members with very large , constituencies to get rquhd them, for which at least six weekk is heeded?” The Prime Mininster replied that Cabinet had not decided' on the date for the elections.in any shape on form.. He could only repeat that ample time would be given for members to get * round their districts, though he would not say they would . have time to dawdle. Mr Forbes: “Will you give them six weeks? ” The Prime Minister: “There will be no rush election. The Government will make known, the date as soon as a decision is arrived at/ ■’ •
