The council of the Amateur Athletic Association lias decided-, in view of the haggling over terms by some of the centres, who refuse to look it matters from a national point of view, to abandon the proposed visit of the; American athletic. team.

The Wairarapa centre wrote urging the council to arrange a meeting between Nurmi and Rose in any part of the world, preferably New Zealand or Australia, and guaranteeing their quota of the expense. The council replied that it-was already acting in the matter, and proposes to ask the Government to instruct the High -Commissioner to -ascertain if Nurmi will syisit New Zealand.

It was decided to hold a 50-mile road cycling championship at Gisborne bn Octbber 22. .
