MURDER OF KIDNAPPED GJRL. »Y CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, Sept. G. Harrison Noel, aged 20, son of a wealthy New York lawyer, confessed to t-lie kidnapping and) the murder of Mary Daly, and also to the murder of Pierce, a coloured taxi-driver, whose car Noel used, and to wounding John Sindee, who pursued Noel. The confession followed the identification of Noel by Sindee in hospital. Noel, who .previously stated that he merely kidnapped the girl for the purpose of demanding £SOO' as ransom, is a former student of a military college. He had been in an .asylum. Both bodies were recovered.
[A New York message yesterday reported that Mary Daly, step-daughter of Joseph Bower, vice-president of the New York Trust Company, was kidnapped in a taxi-ear from the front of her home at St. Clair, New Jersey. Sindee, chauffeur for Bower, pursued the kidnapper, and a wild chase followed through city streets and country roads, until the kidnapper stopped pursuit by shooting at and wounding Sindee. He then murdered his own driver.]
