Lieut. Tubb arrived in Eltham on Thursday night to take up duties at the Salvation Army Boys’ Home. Airs Jackson, the third victim of the motor smash at Waikare (between iNapier and Gisborne) died on Friday morning.
A Press message from San Patrico states that after a quiet visit spent in riding, hunting and polo, the Prince of Wales left at noon on 'Saturay oil an e:ghteen-hour trip to Chile. Adjutant Graham, who has been resting in New Zealand after 10 years’ Salvation Army service in China, is leaving on his return journey this week.
Mr. W. G. Walkley, of the firm of Messrs Burdelcin, Waikley, and Cameron, left yesterday for Hawke’s Bay to carry out an investigation. of accounts and financial position of a large dairy company in that province. Hon. A. D. McLeod (Minister of Lands), his private secretary (Mr. Mulligan). Mr H. Dickie, and the other members of the party left by mail train for Wanganui to-day. Mr McLeod* w.ill be at Westmere during the day, wi l l speak to-niglit and attend a big function in the evening, and will return to Wellington to-morrow. j Air D. P. F. Malone, of Kaponga, who was recently operated on for appendicitis at Dr. Hockin’s private hospital, has made good progress towards recovery. Yesterday, 10 days after the operation, he was able to return to his home, though it will, of course, he some time before he can pursue his usual duties. The last letter received from Dr.’ Mc-Ghie, of Hawera, stated that he had taken a course of studies at the Post Graduate School of Medicine, New York. After devoting some time tx> the study of nervous diseases, he spent several days at th e . Alt. Sinai Hospital, New York, and at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal. This concludes Dr. McGhie’s American tour and he sneaks very highly of the reception given to him by the doctors at th e Mayo Clinic and at the various hospitals throughout the United States and Canada. A cable just received states that he is now in London and will be leaving shortly for New Zealand
