The Matapn branch of the Farmers Union forwarded a complaint through the Elitiham County Council, concerning tlie 'st-aite of the Sheet Road between the Wainigongoro Bridge and the Ahiaipaiipa Road. The chairman said that provision had been made in the estimates to repair the road between the Aliaipaipa and Duthie roads, on which portion there was a lot of traffic. Beyond that, however, there was a good metalled road. The Council decided that they could not agree to -a request by the Piateta County Council that they co-operate with that local body in the purchase of a pair of “loadometens” for the purpose of checking the weights of vehicles using the road. The chairman mentioned that it was reported] .that the Electric Light Company had' raised the water in their dam to such ion: extent that the water on the Mawihitiwhiti crosising was now too deep. “If such is the case,” said the chairman, “it is up to the company to erect a bridge.” The matter was 'left with the loreman to report. Ini view of the falling through of the Kgmoiit Plark Board’s scheme, that . local bodies should make grants to the board’s fund's, tlie board wrote asking that tlie Hawera, Comity Council (who previously lagreed to the scheme) should now make their grant to the board’s southern committee, which exthe revenue derived from Dawson Fails side of the mountain. Tlie chairman asked Or. Lysagliib (who iis -al member of the Park Board) if, in tlie event of the local bodies contributing to tlie 'southern! committee and making the position on the southern side good, would the Park Board spend the revenue derived from Dawson Falls, on the northern side of the mountain. Cr Lysaght isaid that toll iees collected at Dawson Fall remained with the southern committee. Or. Larcom asked if money collected at the southern end had not been spent on the northern track. Or. Lysaght said that one time a Government subsidy had been spent on the Egimoub track, when half of the money should have been spent at Hie southern end. “They spent it and told us afterwards.” , The council then rescinded the motion passed ipreyiously making a grant of £7B to the Park Board, and passed another resolution, donating tlie money to the southern committee.
