LORDLY SCALE
TRADE NEGOTIATIONS
RUSSIANS IN FRANCE. LITTLE BUSINESS DONE. IV CAB I E —PRESS ASSOCIATION--COPY RIGHT. Received Sep. 5 II a.m. LONDON, Sep. 4. The Times P|auiis correspondent -also reports that the Ruysi-aiii trade delegation, • wliioh recently visited Lancashire, has arrived -at Rams, where it has commenced negotiations on an equally lordly -scale. It announced that it wa.s prepared to -purchaiso machinery and textiles totalling fifty million francs. Their purchase's in Western Europe totalled twelve million sterling for textiles. They asked for only six months’ credit, which the French manufacturers were willing to give, but it is understood the -amount thus to be expended would 'be very small. For machinery they want credit for two to five years, Which the firms- approached declare to be quite impossible-. . There is talk of forming a .special bank for the facilitation of these transactions, but the existing banks would be ho -parity to such -a scheme, which is unlikely to materialise. —Times.
