Kenneth Lee,. Sir William Boivei-iclge and General Sir Herbert Lawrence have been appointed members of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the coal industry-. The Daily Herald (the Labour paper) says a. new mining crisis i.s developing owing to the owners’ interpretation of the recent truce. The miners wore under the impression that their wages would not be reduced, but the ownetis claim that the provision of the truce that wages should not be reduced below the 11)24 agreement was being honoured because the 1924 agreement- fixed the percentages to he devoted to wages, hut left the district basis rates open to variation. Mr. Cook, the miners’ secretary, says that wage cuts have -already been made in several districts, and the owners’ aeis creating a situation of extreme delicacy.
