ASSISTANCE AT BRISBANE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Sept. 4, 11.25 a.m.) BRISBANE, Sept. 4. A report made under the Unemployed Workers’ Insurance Act shows that during the year ended June 30 last sustenance totalling £64,653 was granted to 11,474 male applicants in Brisbane, ;!nd £16,923 to 1356 female applicants. The majority of the male applicants described themselves as labourers, and females as machinists and shop assistants.
