CHARITY BALL.
W.N.R.. EFFORT. OUTSTANDING SUCCESS. The ball held by the Women’s National Reserve in the Winter. Show Haiti la.slb evening for the purpose of raising funds for local daises of distress was an unqualified success. Socially and financially the results were beyond the expectations of tin© promoters. The fancy dresses were exceedingly effective and there was very keen competition, and the judges had great difficulty in ©electing |tbe prize winners. _ As usual the general public turned up in force a« it always does at the call of the Women’s National Rlaserve, and .the function was voted as being most ,successful;. The splendid* music voluntarily supplied, iby the band and a special orchestra, arranged by Mr. Fox assisted in no small measure to> make the ball as pleasant as it was. Hawera is fortunate in possessing .such an asset as its lb,and, net only for the musical talent, but by the generosity displayed by each member. The endless efforts of the M’s.G. to provide, for the comfort of the dan, oens were much, appreciated. Although the actual amounts are not yet available, it is anticipated that the charity funds of the Reserve will benefit very considerably.
