Skinner at the Anglican General Synod l in connection with the formation of the new diocese of Waikato and North Taranaki was fittingly acknowledged by members of clergy and laity present at a meeting held in New Plymouth yesterday. At a meeting of clergy and laity of North Taranaki in New Plymouth, yesterday, convened to discuss matters connected with the new diocese, respectful congratulations.were ordered to be conveyed to Archbishop Averill on his appointment as Primate, and also the keen regret of the Taranaki Archdeaconry that his influence and advice would be lost through the creation of the new diocese. The hope was expressed that His Grace would long be spared to devote his gifts of tireless energy, courageous leadership and unfailing devotion to duty to the. interests of the church of the province of Hew Zealand. It was stressed, that the Archbishop had come to the Auckland diocese at a crisis in its history and had steered it safely through many troubles and difficulties.
