The-monthly .meeting of the Hawera branch of .the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the Methodist Bible Class room, The meeting took the’ form of . a “pay-up” social, each member bringing the yearly subscription, 25 members being present. After various items of business had been transacted, a.social hour was. spent. Mrs Dixon delighted all with hep singing, also Miss Olga Laidlaw. in reepating the recitation, by which .she won the geld.medal donated by the W.C.T.U. at the recent competitions; Mrs Henson gave a very interesting account, of her trip to England and Scotland. One new member. was enrolled by. the, president. Afternoon tea brought the meeting to a close.
