A tnenie that.4s at once poignant and striking will lie seen to-night at the Grand Theatre. It is entitled “Lend Jle Your Hsubahd,” and tells in a convincing manner about society life as it is. It deals with the continual “lendng”, of ..husbands and other such things by a society belle whose beauty and charm allow her to get away with her, pranks. The story gradually ascends to a smashing climax:- All of these surroundings are handled .with skill, and make for a production that is at once interesting and lavish.

Opera Hops© to-night Denis Keh oe Tvill. present, his successful Irish folk drama..,, "Mother Machree,.’’ Which recently had a good run at His Majesty 's Theatre, Auckland. .. .The play is a simple, sto.ry ,of homely people, from the pen,of Maurice Wehlen, replete with sentiment and the pathos of life. Embellished by the, sweet melm' dies of Erin and the old-time songs sung to the accompaniment of the Irish hand-harp, the action is savoured by that brisk intriguing humour inseparable from the Irish people. The juvenile leading iady is Frances Kayher. Everywhere her grace and beauty have competed with the . excellence of her acting as prime factors in the popularity that has rewarded her efforts. Helen Fergus, in the name ( par.t of Mother Maehree, Gwen Dorise, Aline Dunn, Ronald Riley, Tom Buckley, Bernard Beeby, Lester Carey, Charles Keegan, Maurice, Lynch, and the veteran conductor, Percy Kehoe, are all .artists of individual..excellence who combine to give a memorable performance. On Tuesday night "The Girl from County Clare’’ will be, staged. This is a production in wliich much comedy abounds, and music forms ah important factor of the entertainment.
The skating, rink management will hold its first hockey team practice too.icrht. Intending members of the teams will kindly report at the rink,at 6.45. The first‘match will .be played on Wednesday night. From to-morrow:the afternoon session will be held from 3 to 5 b’e'ock. •
