VALUELESS CHEQUES ISSUED. EX-SCHOOLMASTER IN TROUBLE. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) HAMILTON, Aug. 29. Howard James Thomas, an ex-school-master, pleaded gui'ty to- seven charges of intent to defraud by issuing valueless cheques, the amounts involved being £l7. The police stated that in addition to the present charges other charges had been issued, representing all told £SO 15s. It was a case of opening a smal 1 banking account, obtaining a cheque book, and issuing cheques. Accused had hitherto borne .a good character, but he was living apart from his wife and had come under the spell of another woman, many of the cheques Issued being to purchase ladies’ clothing. Accused was admitted to probation for twelve months, conditional on restoration being made.
