GENER AL COMMITTEE MEETING. There was an attendance of fifteen present at the general committee meeting of the Eigmont A. and P. Association this afternoon, over which Mi: S. C. Tonks presided. ; A, letter was .received from the Prime Minister in reply to the invitation to open the association’s 42nd • anmial show on November 18 next. The Minister said the time was a little early for aim to give a definite answer, hut he would later consider the matter. The chairman stated that when in Wellington recently he had interviewed the Prime Minister’s secretary, and had been told that the chances of Mr Coates coming to Hawera were very small, as he would probably be in "Dunedin for the opening of the Exhibition. The Manawatu Association wrote with reference to trespassers who had scaled the fence at the association’s last show, seven names were taken, and two persons were prosecuted without . result. ea ; eseutations were made to the Minister for Justice to have the IVice Ofences Act amended to provide for prosecution of offenders. —It was decided to support the Mauarvatu Association The chairman reported that the Ha.vera Trotting Club was stil] considerin' the matter of using the association’s grounds as a course for the club’s meeting. The chairman reported that a great deal of alteration had been made in' she schedule. The competitions had een altered considerably, and several new ones brought in to make the ring more attractive. ■ The following judges had been appointed:—W. P. Harrison (Masterton), fat cattle and sheep; W. R. Murphy Whenuakura), Shorthorns and Hereford®; T. Melvin (Masterton) Friesian®; FT. E. B. Watson (Christchurch), Jerevs; J. Hodges (Rapanui), milking Shorthorns; IV. C. .Wallace (Cambridge) U'ydesdales, spring carters, hacks, etc. ; \ Donald (Teherenikau), sheep; It. Chilcott (Terapa), pigs; H. Moreland (second choice), Teraka, Jerseys; J. Built (Hiunteirville), hacks, harness horses and hunters. It was decided to call for tenders for the publican’s both, and invite Messrs Dustins, Ltd.,* to do the show catering. ... After considerable^discussion, it was arranged to hold an auction sale on the morning of the second day of the show. The question of issuing rosettes in Diace of prize ribbons was discussed. The chairman poinied out that the rosettes would be cheaper than tlie ribbons, which cost a, great deal on aiecount of the gold printing. „ It was moved |hat the association should fissure rosette® instead of ribbons. An amendment favoring rosettes, but retaining the championship ribbon, was lost. A further amendment to retain ribbons was carried. The resignations of Messrs J. 0 Dea (Auroa) and 0. Lang (Hawera) were ticc€pted. Mr E. A. Washer wa s accorded a , vote of thanks for a framed photograph of the champion bull at last show.
