QUEEN CARNIVAL.
ATHLETIC CLUB’S CANDIDATE. The Hawera Amateur Athletic Club last evening selected- Miss Mai&i© InBtone as the club’s candidate for the Hawera Municipal and Highland Pipe' Bands’ queen carnival. , The club also appointed Messrs G. H. Weir and L. I. Marter as delegates to attend: a meeting of the combined sports bodies, to be held to-night, The concert committee made arrangements for the first apparance of the Hawera ladies’ band on the evening of Monday week, when a concert will be. 'held in the Opera House to officially open the carnival and introduce the queen candidates.
