BUTTER AND CHEESE GRADING.
COMPETITIONS AT AUCKLAND EXHIBITION. (by telegraph:. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 27. Butter and cheese grading competitions promoted in connection with the Winter Exhibition were carried out today. Unusual interest was manifested in the competitions this year owing to the fact that competitors were drawn from all parts of the Dominion. The events included the championship of New Zealand in butter and cheese grading respectively, and competitions for dairv factory employees other than managers. Prize money totalling £/o was provided for the competitions, the first prize in eacb event being £lO. The championship winners also received a gold medal each. The competitors totalled 65, and competition m the different classes was particularly keen; the scoring being very close in all classes. Following are the results . Butter Grading Championship.—A. Madsen- (Te Poi) 99* points, 1. -J • Campbell (Maungaturoto), R. TV. Glen, worth (Waipulturau), and J. A. Blake (Waiuku) 99 points, equal for second place. Butter Grading, for factory em_ ployees other than managers.—id. Goldthorpe (Clevedon) 97 points, 1. A. Palmer (Rangiwahia) and H. Lawrence (Waiuku) 96 points 2 and 3. A. Adams (Waiuku) 951 points, 4 Cheese Grading Championship.—id. Crosby (Dannevirke) 98 points 1, K. McKenzie (Ttmia; 97 points 2, id. Graham (Manawaru) and C. Edwards (Frankton) 961 points 3 and 4.
