THE GRAND, TO-NIGHT. “TIIE MAD WHIHL.” ‘‘Here’s How,” a sensational stoiy by Richard Washburn Child, former United States Minister to Italy, lias been called one of the most searching expose of certain phases of American family life. “The Mad Whirl” is .the screen version, and it opens a two-night season to-night at the Grand, with a cast headed by May McAvoy. A very line supporting programme will be presented. OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. 11 THE TEN ,COMMANDMENTS. ’ ’ The final showing of “The Ten Commandments ” takes place at. the Opera House to-night. Apart from its beautiful scenes, part from its merits as a picture play, “The Ten Commandments ” should be seen by everyone. It is stated) to be the, most enlightening form of “moral propaganda” existing- « OPERA HOUSE—TO-MORROW (SATURDAY) EVENING.

To-morrow (Saturday) evening picture fans will be provided with an excellent bill of fare at the Opera House in a double star offering headed by House Peters in the United Artists’ production of “Lost and Pound.” The producers of this picture took their entire company to Tahiti, where they worked out their story. The plot tells of the search of a trader, Captain Cochran, alias Blackbird, for his wife and daughter, who were tricked away from their home in Apia during his absence by a heartless villain. “Lost and Pound” has a particularly strong cast of players in the, leading roles, viz., House Peters, Pauline Starke and Antonio Moreno., A new Corinne Griffiths will be introduced to movie-goers in the First National jjjroduction “Love’s Wilderness.” Not only does Corinne reveal new splendours in her gowns. and riding costumes, she fits herself into the drab, coarse setting of the Canadian woods, to which she has eloped^with an adventurer.

DENIS KEHOE SEASON

Denis Kehoe, the romantic actor singer, and his strong supporting company will present Mother Machree on Monday next at the Opera House. The plot of the play deals with an Irish farming family and the grasping administrator of an absentee owner, who seeks to avenge his private spleen upon them. As Dan Of Connor, son of Mother Machree, Denis Kehoe presents a chivalrous type, whose mercurial spirits find vent in the songs of his country, sung to the accompaniment oif the little Irish hasp. Frances Kayhnt, ias Rose Qi’Diare, is. a charming young w T ho radiates delicate grace iand charm.. Helen Fergus plays the sympathetic role of. Mother Machree. The .second production, “The Girl from County. Clare,” to be presented on Tuesday, deals with three brothers, one a sergeant in the mounted police,, one a clergyman, and the other a clerk in a logging camp. It is a romance of the Canadian back woods. The cast is a strong one, and includes Moya Kennedy, Aileen Dunn, Gwen Demise, Ronald Riley, Bernard Beeby, Jack White, Maurice Lynch, Joe Cody, Lester Carey, Tom Buckley, while Percy Ivehoe is the musical director. The box. plans are on view at the Opera. House Confectionery Shop. ROLLER, SKATING. At the local skating rank the manager, Mr. C. Adams, is trying to form two or more hockey teams to play a series of games on skates. . A beginners’ class is held every evening between 6.45 and 7.30 p.m
