To fill the vn,oancv caused by the death of Mr. Alfred Jolly, at Wellington, the National Bank has appointed Mr G. W. Mclntosh acting general manager. Mr. Mclntosh has been Lief inspector for the last two years. In connection with the forthcoming Band Queen Carnival in Hawera, a meeting of representatives of all sports bodies has been called for feativrdaj next, with the idea of nominating a general sports queen. At one time the Hawera Soccer Club had an idea of running a candidate of its own, and 'he Amateur Athletic Club was taking action to a like end; but both these clubs are now disposed to consider cunning one snorts queen. So far as possible, all Hawera . sports bodies nave been communicated with, but it is hoped that anyone overlooked will accept a general invitation to the meeting.
