“WE’RE GOING WITH FLEET.”

How two girls escaped from a home in Parramatta, travelled to Alelbourne to see the fleet, and after a round of gaiety with the sailors, made plans to board their boats to travel with them to New Zealand, Are parts of a story from North Melbourne. The girls are now at the Neglected Children’s Home, Royal Park. Although both are only 16 their plans for escape were made with matuie skill. Being well behaved, they were allowed privileges 'in the , Parramatta home. They set about collecting their.few belongings, And making the excuse that they were going to feed the canaries, they climbed the gate and escaped from the" Parramatta institution. “We have been in every yellow cab in Alelbourne,” one of them boasted. They were good dancers, and attended numerous socials and receptions. The girls also went over the boats at Port Melbourne, and at the invitation of 'some sailors they were going to be provided with uniforms, dress up as sailors, and go to New Zealand with the boats. , ~ „„ A broken appointment upset tn e arrangement. They went home to Drjbnr'di street. Constable Barbour called, and while making arrangements tor their removal to the Neglected Children’s Home one of the girls ran away. She, however, returned later.
