Deck fittings and a companion ladder were’ washed, overboard during a storm which .struck tho ship after .she left South Africa, A lifeboat stove in, the deck cargo shifted, and was damaged; the crew’s quarters were under waiter for days, ami the officers’ cabins were Hooded. Water even invaded the master s quarters on the bridge, and poured down gratings into the. stokehold, So heavy were the .seals that oil was poured on them.
