TARANAKI OILFIELDS.
PROGRESS REPORT. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 25. Taranaki Oilfields report that at Tarata 3000 feet of 81-inch casing have been put in, and drilling is about to be resumed. At Moturoa the bore has been drilled to 1771 feet. There was a show of oil in sandy shale at 1625 feet, from 1640 to • 1650 feet there was a show of oil and gas in sand, from 1690 to 1694 feet gas in sand was met to 1771, and there was a sandy shale with a show of gas from 1740 to 1750 feet.
