NORMANBY.
(From Our Own Corespondent.) TOWN BOARD. At the monthly meeting of the Town Board there were present: Com. missipners G. Goad, A. Hills, and T. Lloyd. Ihe chairman, Mr. C. J. Preston, was granted leave, and in liis absence Commissioner C. Goad was voted to the chair. Mr. G. Galloway wrote asking for improvements to the footpath leading to his residence on Mawhitiwhiti Road. —lt was decided to leave the matter in. the hands of the Works Committee, with, power to act. Messrs J. Taylor and C. Franklyn waited on the board on behalf of the Xoiinanby Dance,Club and handed over five doze u cups and saucers for the Town Hail, which crockery had been purchased with the proceeds of dances neld during the winter. Th e chairman thanked them on behalf of the hoard, and it was decided that the amount spent by the Dance Club he subsidised to the extent of £2. The chairman and clerk were authorised to procure the other necessary articles for this sum. Owing to the indisposition of the ranger, Mr. S. Franklyn, who is still in hospital, it- was resolved to appoint Mr. C. Franklyn acting ranger, as several complaints had reached the hoard of residents grazing their horses o Jt the streets. Mrs. Franklyn was also appointed custodian of the hall in the meantime. The revision of the Town Hall charges was held over until next meet. i'lK. The clerk was instructed to write to a resident who had gorse growing opposite *his property on. Xgaronga Road, asking him to have the same grubbed. It was resolved that £lO9 be paid to the 'Hawera. County Council on account of hospital rates. Accounts to the amount’ of £132 Is 7d were passed for payment. A special meeting of the board was also held, when a resolution passed at the last ordinary meeting striking ihc rate for tlie ensuing year was eon. firmed. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. The committee of the Horticultural -oriety has all arrangements for the dance to h e held o n Tuesday night well in hand. The catering arrangements are in the hands of the ladies’ omrnittee, so nothing will he wanting in this respect. It is to be hoped that there will he a good muster, and so ■'help along the finances of the ociet.y.
