CANDIDATE) FOR. H HIT SEAT. (BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.. WELLINGTON, Ang. 22, Mr T. M. Wilford has sent the following letter to the secretary of the Hntt branch of the National Party: “I beg to acknowledge receipt of yours of the 20th inst., conveying to me the (resolution of the executive (of the Hutt branch of the National Party. I am very proud of that resolution. I ;nn very loath to give up my seat in tW valley where I was horn and where ■".«*> many friends have loyally assisted me for so long, but feel, under the present circumstances, that if it was the belief of my executive and friends that the seat could be more surely held for our party by the choice of another man, then in that case any claims I might have had would inijmediateily be forgotten by me in the desire of saving tiie seat for our side. I hope that the result of the election ixi the Hutt will help to bring about a strong and stable Government for New Zealand, a Government of purposeful men with progressively liberal ideas to meet the changing times and changing conditions. I thank you all for the confidence you have in me, and can assure you that I shall never forget your many kindnesses to me and mine i u the past, and with every wish for the success of the National Party I gladly agree to your request that I shall be a candidate for Hutt .in the coming election.” ,
