COMPETITIONS AT AUCKLAND WORLD’S BEST BUTTER. NEW ZEALAND FACTORY TOPS LIST. The dairying coimipetitioms promoted by the Auckland Winter Exhibition this year created intense interest. The chie f event, the world’is championship butter competition, attracted 86 entries, of which half were from overseas. The report of the judges was as follows: — “As was to be expected the quality of the butters from different countries varied .considerably. Similar charaoteniistbios in butters from the same country were noticeable. Half the entries in the class came from overseas, and many were of good quality. Although all butters were held in eool storage for practically the same time before judging, this condition militated against .some of the countries, which are not accustomed to miake butter for long storage, although isome pleasing exhibits were received from these countries. “The first prize butter, .shown by a New Zealand factory, was of very- high quality, land was closely followed by a very find entry from Queensland. Three New Zealand exhibits came next in order of merit, and were followed by a very nice entry of Irish butter. The body and texture of a number of exhibits were hardly up to the standard of a wo rld’a championship, and the colour in a number of cases was streaky.” Tire details of points scored place a New Zealand factory, Rlangi:wahi.a, first on tho list, a Queensland factory second. Tariki and Moa occupy fourth and fifth places, and are followed by an Irish factory. Other countries competing include New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Fiji, Tasmania, United States, and Denmark. The points scored by the leaders are as. follow : —Riangliwaihia., (Ruahine, 96) • Oakley, Queensland, 96; Golden Bay’, 95) ; Tailaki. 95; Moa, 95; Herbentistown, Ireland, 94).
