CRICKET.
MEETING OF SOUTH TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. AMALGAMATION SCHEME DISCUSSED. The question of the amalgamation of the whole of Taranaki for cricket purposes was brought up last year by New Plymouth, but no satisfactory basis was suggested, and the matter was dropped. This year the question was again mooted, and last, night there was a meeting of the South Taranaki Association in Hawara to consider the position. It was well attended and considerable discussion ensued, the feeling of members being quite favourable to a schema if one were considered feasible. The opinion was that it, would be wise to be linked up for outside matches, but to retain their identity for the local district competition. It, seems probable that a further re-arrangement will be acceptable, forming South, Central and North districts. with headquarters at Hawera, Stratford and New Plymouth respectively. It'was arranged that a sub-commit-tee of the South Taranaki Associtaion would meet- North representatives at Stratford on Thursday next. The South delegates will be Messrs B. McCarthy, L. J. Furrie, J. G. Nieliol and J. Neilsen. It has been arranged to hold the annual meeting of the South Taranaki Association! on September 24.
