LICENSING BOOKMAKERS.
NUMEROUS PETITIONS. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. Thirty-three petitions have been considered by the Public Petitions Committee of the House of Representatives, asking that the Gaming Act be amended in the direction of licensing bookmakers.
I he committee, through its chairman (Mr J. Me. Dickson) renorted that it had no recommendation to make, and the House received the report without discussion.
