FORFEITS POSTED. FOR. DEMPSEY-WILLS MATCH. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT (Received Aug. 19, 10.55 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 18. After the New York Athletic Commission granted Kearns a license to do business in this State, he and Tex Rickard, the boxing promoter, each posted forfeits, for 25,000 dollars for a Dempsey-Wills fight, to take place before July 4. Paddy Mullins, manager for Wills, is expected to post a forfeit shortly. If Dempsey refuses to fight for Kearns Wills receives Kearns’ deposit. _ Mullins -appeared before the commission, and said he would not post a forfeit the commission declared it would notWrecognise Wills as champion if Dempsey were defeated.—Reuter. DEMPSEY’S REFUSAL. (Received Aug. 19, 1.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 18.
A message from Los Angeles states that Dempsey declared to-day: “I positively will not fight where Kearns is in any way concerned.” —A. and N.Z. Assn.
